Hotel Icon always has the BEST durian desserts, especially their Durian Combo Afternoon Tea at The Market. But this Chinese & Western fusion afternoon tea is also a remarkable one! While sitting at the rooftop, viewing such a spectacular scenery, it is enjoyable to have these delicate Chinese dim sum, pastries and Western mini desserts. Each person are offered with choices of Chinese & flower tea or coffee, latte & mocha. I especially like the flaky baked abalone & meat pie and fried pear, which is a sweetened mochi dough stuffed with pickled ginger and flavorful roasted goose; the pork dumpling is also topped with a very fresh scallop. For my first taste of chicken liver, the mini bun underneath is nice but I would better go for my favourite smoked egg with runny yolk.
Followed by the desserts, my favourites are the mini pandan cake and the almond financier stuffed with a little longan. The lemon yuzu tart is very refreshing and the agar-agar has also been excelled well.
Undeniably, the jasmine tea hot chocolate is the perfect pairing with a stick of crumbly chocolate cookie.
