Chiu Chow Lok Hau Fook Restaurant 潮州樂口福酒家 – Teochew Night

Chiu Chow Lok Hau Fook Restaurant, one of my family all time favourite dining place for a traditional Teochew meal.

Traditionally, the table first comes with several cups of Kung Fu tea. Instead of those we used to order such as cold fish and Chiu Chow style rice porridge, we had this fried oyster pancake served with fish sauce and white pepper. It is not made in crispy style but a bit gooey, and loaded with great amount of baby oysters.

My most loved dish of the night is the grilled eel cooked in a teriyaki-style sauce. Juicy, meaty, succulent and is not fishy at all.  A simple stew pot with veggies and vermicelli is cooked very family-style. No doubt that the spicy peppered soup with pork tripes is my mom’s favourite, so as the sweet yam paste topped with ginkgo nuts and sweet syrup.
