Patbingsu, a Korean shaved ice dessert, has been a great hit in Hong Kong. It is literally just red bean and ice with some sweet toppings. At Hanbing, you will find a variety of topping selections such as the basic soybean powder, soybean powder with Adzuki paste, black sesame and Jeju green tea. There are also waffles and toasts, or even savoury dishes to resonate the real deal for a Korean cafe.
A recommendation is the roasted soybean powder, which pronounced a great roasted aroma, with sweet red bean paste, mini mochi and slivered almond to give chewy and crunchy texture respectively. The ice bottom is shaved delicately smooth and is sweetened with condensed milk.
The less attractive waffle with black sesame topping and honey syrup sounds simple, yet it is so overwhelmingly luscious with a gluey delectable layer of mochi between warm toasted waffles. Don’t expect a good quality scoop of vanilla ice cream but it’s cheerful to end with a bar of Korean rice crispy. This is surely a great spot for some light Korean desserts.
