U Can Cook vs KKK – I call them Peace Bun!

During this time of spring, the energy and soul of Hong Kong people are reignited with rousing performances and bamboo bun tower in celebration of the Cheung Chau Da Jiu (aka Bun) Festival. That include lively parades, Kung Fu demo, lion dances as well as the most important and unique bun grabbing contest.

Bakeries will sell buns with a “Peace” stamped that manifests sign of safety and peacefulness, with choices of white sesame, red bean or lotus fillings. Traditionally, white sesame is the only choice; steamed, filled whilst not so fluffy, it is nevertheless my favourite of all kinds. Noticed that along the praya road, a nearby cafe is also offering peace bun macarons. It is just a passable one with a teeny tiny scent of tea.
