Old China Cafe is located in the heart of Chinatown, where mainly occupied by Myanmarian. Since 1920, this cafe restaurant serves a combination of Chinese and Malay food, which are now commonly referred as Southeast Asian cuisine. Featuring a setting of antiques lamps, old mirrors and vintage furnitures, it reflects the old days of China and also delivers unique delicacies.
The hot salad with radish and cuttlefish is deliciously served with fresh lettuce leaves and spicy sambal chili paste.
The pineapple curry with jumbo shrimps are also made to great hotness, which is perfect to go with the naturally blue dyed coconut rice.
The ordinary looking fried omelette has retained slightly undercook, filled with a mixed crunch of shredded veggies which however does not significantly show a taste of pickled shrimp.
Finally, a love or hate ending of durian flesh has been made better with a spoonful of coconut cream.
Simple ingredients, basic home cooking, are the shoutouts here.
