After savoring a Southeast Asian meal at Old China Cafe, it is time to have a true taste of Malay cuisine. Situated at the most luxurious mall in town, Starhill Gallery, Enak is renowned for its authentic Malay delicacy and rewarded by a few magazine recommendations. The fact that it is coursed similar to Western cuisine, from starters, soups, mains to desserts, it does not offer any pork dishes.
Rather than bread basket, they served a complimentary basket of fried melinjo fruit cracker. It is crispy and bitter aftertaste. Otak otak is lemongrass flavored fish cake with some Thai style sweet chili dip, and the banana balsam salad is also another special starter with a coconut milk dressing.
The clear soup with spicy chicken comprised of a rich mixture of ingredients, with some worth noting pressed rice dumplings.
Moving on to mains, which also become some of my recommends, are beef striploins that comes with mango salsa as well as the tender baby squid stuffed with a deliciously spiced and desiccated coconut filling.
Truth to be told, Malay cuisine is unlikely to be the best choice at Kuala Lumpur, but once in a lifetime is still exceptionally acceptable.
