Going along Gion Hanamikoji Street, there are lots of steak and tofu restaurants. Nishisaka is a Japanese restaurant that is found mobbed with foreigners where is just 4 blocks away the corridor.
They provide a simple and understandable English menu, which includes beef shabu shabu, beef steaks, vegetarian and kaiseki set, each of them comes with appetizer, rice and pickles.
The appetizer is like a wasabi flavored tofu paste whereas the rice has topping of purple sprinkles.
The Yu-Doufu set is a selective option from all the beefs. It is basically boiled clear soup with beancurd blocks inside a wooden pot. To serve, dip in a specially prepared soy sauce.
After all, this would be a great dinner place for a Gion visit.
