The Fat Pig – Maple Bacon Brunch

Returning to a rustic incorporation at the Time Square food forum, The Fat Pig is a casual restaurant and bar helmed by celebrity British chef Tom Aikens, who has recently prepared a wonderful evening menu for us at The Pawn.

In addition to the versatile menu which features locally sourced pork and the theoretical nose-to-tail approach, The Fat Pig kitchen has brought us a brand new brunch menu that is served at the weekends from 11am to 6pm.

Indulge in a gorgeous piece of Belgian waffle or eggy french toast, both are topped wonderfully with a scoop of smooth vanilla cream and crispy maple glazed bacon.

Coming to some brunch-time a la carte retrieved from their dinner menu, we love the barbecued pork ribs with a sticky sweet and sour glaze; the excellently tender pork belly cooked in brown sauce with an interesting introduction of dried longan fruit.

On the sides are typical sausage rolls wrapped in golden puff pastry, an extra creamy, comforting and breadcrumbs-topped macaroni and cheese, as well as a crispy croquette that is rarely seen to be made with pig’s head. They are completely out of this world.

Between the two mini brioche sliders, the pulled pork version impresses more due to its smoky savoriness and the beer-battered onion rings that adds a nice crunchy bite.

Finally, we pampered ourselves with some new favourite desserts including chocolate caramel tart and a super indulgent, smoked bacon ice cream sundae for a final finishing touch. It has smoked bacon ice cream, caramel sauce, brownie bites and more vanilla cream, which is highly recommended.

After such an astonishing brunch experience, I’m certainly loving The Fat Pig more and more.
