When you pay a second visit, it means it is a good place.
Tartine is a French gourmet restaurant where I have been always wanted to return for what they have recently launched on the a la carte menu. Spanning two floors including the stunning terrace, the small yet elegant dining area, are looking more luxurious in the evening.
As the dinner menu focuses not only on open face sandwiches, it consists a mix of categories, such as appetizers, mains, desserts, and a list of wine for Central livers to chill and relax after the busy day.
Black truffle finger sandwiches arrive with a side of green salad. This popular dish is indeed excellent, well made with buttered toast, cheese and decent black truffle.
The three tartars, bigeye tuna, salmon and beef, are equally tasty and refreshing; whilst I particularly favor tuna tartare that comes with tangy ponzu cream and is completed with white truffle oil.
Next are the three a la cartes.
Favourite is the quiche lorraine with a significant truffle flavor, lardon bacon and nice shortcrust, followed by a mashed potato gratin served atop a fabulously rich meat sauce, tomato and beef ragu.
A seemingly appetizing lobster risotto is found well executed, very al dente in terms of the arborio rice texture, but I would expect more flavor to come from the lobster bisque.
Open face sandwiches, are always their fresh sourdough with the best quality toppings.
The goats cheese and fig tartine is as good as my first experience; at the same time, the lobster one is made richly with tender lobster meat, cheesy and decadent bechamel white sauce. They are impressive.
And finally, how could I leave without getting a beautiful slice of mixed berries and mascarpone tartine? It is the best of all kinds!
