Belon is a signature restaurant located at the 31st floor of Banyan Tree Hotel. As its name suggests, the establishment is an elegant and modern seafood bar where offers array of scrumptious fresh seafood, a la carte and degustation menu in addition to 10 types premium oysters including that from Brittany, the coastal region of France.
Before entering the spacious and elegant dining room, we are set at an oyster and wine bar overlooking the city’s skyline. A list of champagne, white to red wine, cocktail to mocktail, accompanied with a list of bar snacks and oyster platter that are served along with green chili, grapefruit and cognac seafood sauce.
Moving to the restaurant, a vibrant bread basket is complimentary to every table, with different flavored salts to pair with the butter, such as Himalaya pink salt, coffee salt, Sichuan chili salt and soya sauce salt.
Following with a crab tartare with beetroot espuma as a amuse bouche, we also have a seafood platter, seared foie gras and a vividly scrumptious smoked scallop that is excellently plump and sweet. A scoop of fruity mango sorbet is followed as a refreshment to our palate.
For mains we have pomfret roulade filled with scallop mousse which is beautifully plated and tasty, an excellently tender oxtail braised in rich port wine jus and a grilled wagyu striploin that is cooked to perfectly medium rare and juicy.
My favourite from the restaurant is definitely the beef cheek. It is nicely slow-cooked that almost melt on the tongue, fall of the bone and wonderfully full of flavors. I also enjoy the celery puree that completes the dish with amazing texture.
The overall experience is satisfying and genuine considering the good selection and well-execution of food.
