Japanese food is the mostly sought cuisine in Hong Kong. Its versatility is far more than just sushi and sashimi, think like tempura, sukiyaki, udon hot pot, steams and grills.
Located at the heart of Causeway Bay Time Square, Zushi ANA is a fine dining establishment where serves such a diverse choice of contemporary Japanese food. The venue accommodates a Japanese street style wooden cart, sushi bar to chill and a spacious dining compartment.
The sushi fare starts with an assortment of sweet shrimp, salmon, tuna, sea urchin, salmon roe, tuna belly rolls and a tamagoyaki. They aren’t the best sushi I have had in Hong Kong but the platter is nicely presented and the sea urchin is my particular favourite.
In addition, the tamagoyaki is bland and tasteless.
The seaweed wrapped sea urchin tempura is found to be the best dish, though it is just a nibble of a sweet and creamy uni that we hope for a bigger portion.
Another favourite is the fatty tuna serves atop crunchy rice cake, which gives a nice contrast in texture and is definitely a better deal compare to the sea urchin tempura.
While sea urchin fried rice and sukiyaki are made average and not surprising, our birthday boy loves the grilled eggplant which has been grilled with miso and sprinkled with sesame seeds.
His big day also ends with one more platter of that plus a Japanese strawberry cake from Arome Bakery!
