#TGIF! It’s another lazy holiday with my favourite one at Sai Kung, this hub of the New Territories.
Aside from many of the seafood restaurants, we have found cafes, bars and hidden gems selling some delicious food that are worth mentioning.
First is everyone’s favourite local cafe, the Sai Kung Bakery & Cafe. It serves some local treats such as pineapple bun with butter, cream cake and the best Portuguese egg tart in Hong Kong. Freshly made from the oven, with a wobbly hot egg custard and a super flaky and buttery pastry case.
Head to King Man Street, we spot a drink stall selling fruit soda, healthy smoothie and fruit mix. It is located between Maxim’s Cake Shop & Chip In Fish & Chips. We recommend the salty preserved lemon with mint soda water.
After that, we come to a local dessert place at the end of Hoi Ping Street, where sells simple Cantonese desserts such as hot walnut soup, cold mango pomelo sago, creme brulee, puddings and shaved ice. Our shaved ice comes with a milk base, topped with watermelon, honeydew melon, strawberry, mango and kiwi, it is finished with a huge scoop of cookies n’ creme ice cream!
Before we leave, we take a walk at the Sai Kung waterfront soaking up the Vitamin D sunlight.
Sai Kung is the perfect place to spend the weekend.
