When Kennedy Town is becoming more highly accessible due to the MTR’s new opening, there are more and more popular little cafes bubbling in this area.
Nestled in Hau Wo Street, where is a street full of restaurants, Summer Ice is that particular dessert cafe often got crowded. It has timber tables, a blackboard with all the menu items written, serving both Japanese and Western desserts such as ice cream, yogurt, smoothie and tea.
Their signatures are freshly made waffle, among which purple sweet potato is the most raved one. The halved waffles are stuffed with real purple sweet potato puree, crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside, served with a scoop of luscious tofu ice cream, honey syrup and a slice of cantaloupe as great complements.
The earl grey is also my favourite which doesn’t fail to impress with rich tea flavor, a creamy and smooth lavender gelato, but the rest of the ornaments are more than enough to add flavors to the dish.
The matcha combo is a latest offer here which consists of green tea lava cake, matcha jelly and warabimochi, Japanese dumplings and dorayaki.
The molten lava cake is very dense, with red bean filling the center, but the green tea ice cream is slightly too sweet. Nonetheless, we have had a mint, lemon and lime cocktail to refresh our palates.
It is indeed a nice cafe to check out and I am definitely coming back to try their Hokkaido milk soft serve.
