Ciao Chow – The First Granted VPN

Ciao Chow is another new Italian cafeteria opens up into Lan Kwai Fong. It a high-ceiling dining restaurant with large, amiable and welcoming atmosphere settled at ground floor of California Tower, where food is prepared freshly from the casual open-kitchen, featuring an extensive menu from Italian cold cuts, antipasti and classic handmade pasta dishes.
Not to mention their signature pizzas that have been granted the VPN (Verace Pizza Napoletana) Certification, the first in Hong Kong, this essentially means “true Neapolitan pizza” consists of good quality ingredients made in their pizza stove oven.

We start with a light appetizer, blue cheese and mozzarella on board served with finger biscuits.
Among the two salads, we love the portobello mushroom strips and the creamy mozzarella cheese in the beetroot ones, as well as the toasted garlic bread in the tomato based panzanella salad.

A must-try is the Margherita pizza. Baked fresh from their stove oven, it is a typical tomato base pizza with a lovely and crispy crust, mozzarella, Parmigiano Reggiano, basil and a great flavor of extra-virgin olive oil to finish.

Another favourite is the fregola, which is a type of Sardinian couscous, or a bead-shaped pasta, that has been lightly toasted with a nutty flavor. Nicely chewy and is cooked as a phenomenal base with mussels, prawns and clams in tomato sauce.

Surprisingly, Ciao Chow has made one of the amazing Italian coffeecakes in town. The tiramisu has a right moisture from the coffee syrup, a delectable cream to cake ratio, topped with generous dusting of cocoa powder, it is perfect to end this exquisite meal. To add on, they also serve a wide selection of wines, cocktails, teas and more than 20 taps of drafts beers too!
