Taking up a two-floor building in Lee Tung Avenue at Wan Chai, Bistro Seoul is a new Korean restaurant with a chicky, classic space designed with bar tables, high chairs and wooden furnitures. Given that they serve authentic, traditional Korean flavors with a contemporary touch, the food is prepared by a Korean chef using the finest and premium ingredients imported from Korea, whilst also stocks more than 20 selections of Korean wine including Makgeolli, Takju, Yakju and Soju.
Typically there are several Korean appetizers served in tapas style: spicy Korean herb salad, kimchi and soy braised lotus root.
A pan-fried potato pancake is crispy on the edge with some tortilla chips served on the side, where the mini gimbap is made like a sushi roll, seasoned with sesame oil, stuffed with crispy anchovies, shredded carrots and Korean herbs.
For the mains, I absolutely love the thin-cut chargrilled Iberico pork cheek which is excellently tender and succulent; as well as the Korean 1++ beef sirloin, medium done, served with a remarkably pungent mustard sauce. The braised cod fish is also very heavy-bodied and delicate, cooked in a flavorful spicy Korean sauce with potatoes and lotus roots.
