65 Peel – Ho Lun Jeng Gastro Pub

65 Peel has been a very instagrammable spots, especially the familiar-looking neon signage saying “gwai lo herbal tea”. Inside the bar, it is pretty casual, trendy and feels industrial with spacious sharing tables and bar stools all around.

This gastro pub is all about locally brewed craft beers, where you can expect a long list of craft beers such as Moonzen and Lamma Ginger, as well as Stone from the U.S., Bridge Road from Aus and Zedder Cider from New Zealand. We love the Dry Fresh Apple Cider with 4.8% ABV and my Lemon Lime Hop which tries to mimic the flavor of beer, but non-alcoholic.

The one-page food menu offers some beer-friendly snacks. Our favourites are the satisfying fried cheese with an incredibly molten center, serves with honey prunes and crispy parmesan chips; the ‘freaking fingerlicking good’ crispy boneless fried chicken with a sweet and chili dip.
I also highly recommend their suckling pig which has been slow-cooked for 20 hours, portion-wise, delectably tender, juicy and has an excellent crispy skin too! Must-try!

For something sweet, try the beer-misu. It basically means tiramisu made with beer instead of alcohol or coffee. Interesting!
