The Beef & Leaf – A Mantou Burger

There are a lot of East meet West creations these days in Hong Kong, and one shouldn’t be missed is this Mantou burger, served by The Beef & Leaf in Argyle Center, aka “旺中”.

In this small area of Argyle Center, there are plenty of food to choose from such as egg waffle, Taiwanese bubble drinks, Japanese hand rolls and the particularly impressive 12″ long waffle with oreo, purple sweet potato, durian and many more! One recent popular addition would be The Beef & Leaf who sells hand-sized burgers using typical Chinese steamed bun.

The burger is smaller than your regular burger, soft and fluffy mantou, fairly juicy beef patty stuffed with a wonderfully soft boiled egg. The melted cheddar cheese reminds me of McDonald’s hamburger, which is alright, but I like the mustard aioli that has added great flavor to the bao.

I would want to come back and try the satay burger, mango burger and their amazing house special drinks!
