Left behind by the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong, we come to Shine for a late lunch.
Shine is located in upper floor of Prince Tower at Tsim Sha Tsui, a spacious Western style restaurant with a chic and cheerful environment. There is a bar, a communal table, and we are served to the comfortable booth seat next to the window.
The new menu offers pretty much European cuisines, but some dishes are found with Asian elements such as yakitori, Japanese somen and spicy shredded chicken. We start with an appetizer, a wagyu tagliata with parmigiano reggiano and arugula salad. The wagyu is fairly thin-cut, smooth and tender, very strong in flavor and is dressed with a sweet, sticky and tangy balsamic glaze.
Follow by a seafood risotto, it has a slightly salty flavor from the squid ink, the risotto is absolutely al dente and cheesy. It is completed with an assortment of seafood including notably large and plump scallops, grilled prawns, mussels, lobster meat and salmon roe. Despite a bitter taste from the alcohol, which is used for a flaming effect, the whole thing is still undeniably scrumptious.
Last but not the least, I opt for a spicy shredded chicken with rice crisps that is served cold. The spicy sauce is so worth a try not only is it homemade, but it has a perfect balance of spicy and sweet, which complemented amazingly with the broiled chicken and cucumber salad. The two giant chicken legs on the side are also excellently juicy and tender especially when they are marinated with ginger spiced powder.
Finally, we end with an affogato for dessert. There is a milk custard for base, a layer of cookie crust, some mixed fresh berries, a piece of tiramisu cake, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Drizzled over a shot of espresso, it is expectedly delightful.
